We can’t wait for better times. 5 years of art projects…

A catalogue, a reflexion, a project and a celebration.

  • Format: 20x25cm – 160 pages – colour.

Founded by Olivier Collet & Jérôme Lefaure, Homesession is an independent art space that offers can’t an international residency programme as well as production grants for Spanish artists. Prior to its current gallery location in the Poble Sec district of Barcelona, Homesession was developed and run for its first four years, from the curators’ home.

Homesession’s residency and grant programmes have generated a broad range of experimentation, particularly in exhibition formats, in the early years often responding to the hybrid, working yet domestic space inherent that housed the programme. We can’t wait for better times was created both to present and document projects that were realised at Homesession from 2007 to 2012. In addition, the book includes an intervention by artist Quim Packard, an essay on independent projects in the Barcelona art scene by Montse Badia, and a piece by Quim Pujol on the relevance of the house as a site for artistic production.

The inhabitant of the floor above (curated by V. Valentini)

A publication and reading of 1+ 8 fiction short-stories

Artists: Audrey Cottin, Julia Gorostidi, Daniel Jacoby, Tamara Kuselman, Gabriel Péricas, Sreshta Rit Premnath, Ryan Rivadeneyra, Oriol Vilanova.

Veronica Valentini is an independent curator currently living in Barcelona. In the framework of the InvitedOneDay programme hosted at Homesession, she collaborated with artists from both Barcelona and the international scene on this very specific project, which propones a collaborative drift from a narrative that Valentini initially wrote. This starting point aimed at challenging the domestic context of the programme, making of a strange situation a possibility for further fictions. The different textual forms that arise from this work and that were read or performed during a presentation night, are gathered in this book designed by Luca Bendandi.

  • Format: 14,5×21 cm – 20 pages – black and white.
