Pedro Moraes

Physical factors of the historical process (La canadiense )

A group exhibition organised by resident Pedro Moraes, following his interest in the ‘Huelga de La Canadiense’ a massive strike in the biggest power plant in Barcelona that took place in 1919. By coopting the organisational structure of the residency the artist invites other artists to occupy the exhibition space. The works displayed relate to the “Huelga’ insofar as they are all centred around energy — it’s production, distribution and circulation. Energy understood not only as the way in which we power our electrical devices, by also as a vector of technological innovation, as a political infrastructure and as metaphysics fed back into economy and politics.
