Los Angeles based artist Adam Davis explores a variety of themes that goes from body politics to metaphysics. Part of his work tackles with the notion of manifest masculinity, with accepted and expected male behavior or expressions thereof, relating cultural symbolic system and the assets it sustains. The link between masculinity-in-context and social representations has led Adam Davis to deal with the question of structural dominations in the social relations: comparing both cultural and economic domination’s schemes of internalized rejections and fantasies, the artist focuses on the way different kinds of narrations get interwoven and interact mutually.
Would metaphysics be a better field for universality and permanence? Adam Davis’ recent works question the representations, aspirations and values given to a possible experience beyond the physical universe. With this new perspectives that certainly enlighten the most melancholic features of his works, Adam Davis goes on working and language and its structures as well as the most ethereal aspects of our fantasies.

Adam Davis vive y trabaja en Los Angeles. Su obra explora diferentes temáticas, desde políticas del cuerpo hasta metafísica. Parte de su trabajo lidia con la noción de masculinidad manifiesta y los comportamientos o expresiones que se acceptan y esperan de ello, poniendo en relación un sistema cultural de signos y los valores que sostiene. El vínculo entre la masculinidad-en-contexto y sus representaciones sociales han llevado a Adam Davis a analizar la cuestión de las dominaciones estructurales en las relaciones sociales: comparando los esquemas de fantasías y rechazos internalizados que sustentan las dominaciones económicas y culturales, el artistas pone de relieve las interacciones y las intricaciones que existen entre narraciones de naturaleza distintas.
¿Sería la metafísica un campo más pertinente para tratar de la universalidad y de la permanencia? Los trabajos recientes de Adam Davis interrogan las representaciones, las aspiraciones y los valores que damos a una posible experiencia más allá del universo físico. Con estas nuevas perspectivas que ilustran con otra luz los rasgos más meláncolicos de sus trabajos, Adam Davis sigue trabajando sobre el lenguaje y sus estructuras así como sobre los aspectos más etéreos de nuestras fantasías.
