Artist-In-Residence Barcelona

homesession offers since 2007 an atypical artist-in-residence program, which consists in short-term residencies and a strong involvement within the local community.

Site-specific: Invited-One-Day

homesession investigates the relation between artworks and their context: Invited-One-Day is a specific program developed in collaboration with spanish artists.

Artist residency in Barcelona:

We provide a residency for emerging artists to develop their creative work and to be able to show their creations in Barcelona (Spain). The residency consists in a loft in the center of Barcelona : it offers creation and accomodation facilities by sharing a flat with the owners, who are the promotors of the residency programm.

Where is the residency ?

The flat is a modern loft situated in the center of Barcelona, just near Montjuic Park, 10 minutes walking from the historic center. The area is quiet, lively and "authentic".
There are 2 metro lines (M? Parallel). It is a 92 square meter flat with two patios (+ 15 square meters each).

What is the residency?

The idea of this residency is based on a real integration to local life: the artist shares the flat with the founders of the project: Jerome Lefaure and Olivier Collet.
We receive artist for short residencies, till one month.
Of course, the artist has his own keys during his stay.

We have sets, tripods and spotlights for photography. We provide support for local contacts, equipments and eventual research of performers, locations, materials. The residency is mainly dedicated to creation, but we often organize a presentation of the work, that makes for a greater interaction with the local art community.

Accomodation

Sharing a flat enables the artist to enjoy freedom as well as better integration with the local life and cultural scene.

The private place for the artist is a closed alcove (5,5 Sq. m.) with a doble sofa/bed, opening on the kitchen/living room. In the living room, a desk is reserved for the artist; Internet access (powerline) available in the whole flat.

Common equipment:
- broadband internet access (by powerline)
- kitchen, refrigerator, micro-wave, washer, oven, dining table chairs etc.
- bathroom, washing machine
- television, video, videoprojector, radio, CD player
- air conditionning / radiant floor heat

Residency as an interchange

We want the residency to be a real opportunity for the artist and we are prepared to be a link toward spanish artists and the local artistic community, in terms of making possible collaborations, four-handed creations or artistic events depending on his interests. Open studio and gallery exhibitions are organized if possible during or at the end of the residency.

Conditions of the residency, fees and living expenses

Due to the limitations of the flat, we only provide residency to one artist on each period. The residency is planned for a short period (maximum: one month) and it's possible for a same artist to apply for two residencies.

We don't charge any residency fees to the artists. As an interchange, we ask the artist to let us an artwork at the end of the residency. The artist will also finance his living expenses as well as his trip to Barcelona on his own.

- a cover letter or description of a specific project in english, french or spanish (pdf or word, maximum 1 din A4 )
- 10 to 20 pictures of your artwork (maximum 350 ko/pictures). For videos: < 6 Mo ( maximum 3 videos)
